What is Acid Reflux

Acid reflux also referred by Gastric reflux disease, GORD (Gastro-esophageal reflux disease) or GERD (Gastro esophageal reflux disease) is a very painful disease as it may last from few to several years. The problem is excessive burning & chest pain caused by too much acid in stomach that further pushes up to the throat leading to more burning sensation. Sometimes, the sufferer feels as if his/her hear is burning. These are the most common symptoms of Acid reflux. Other symptoms may include problem while swallowing, too much sickness or regurgitation.

Acid reflux may also cause too much injury by developing ulcers near the stomach and oesophagus, also pronounced as esophagus (The passage between the pharynx (throat) and the stomach), narrowing of oesophagus or oesophageal reflux, a rare type of cancer.

Acid reflux is very difficult to be detected in children or infants. Also, their symptoms vary as that of adults. The symptoms include vomiting, spitting up, cough or other respiration problems. According to a research, nearly 4.2 million babies are born earn year in United States, out of which as much as 40% of them suffer from the problem of acid reflux but most of them overcome this diseases within a year or so but others have to grow with this problem.

There are many chemical cures available for curing acid reflux including surgery but most of the people prefer it to treat in a natural way i.e. the herbal way as it doesn’t cause any side effect on the body and herbal medicines cure diseases from the root of the disease eliminating it permanently.

There are various foods that contribute to the problem of acid reflux like coffee, high fat foods, alcohol, chocolate, milk and milk related products high in fats and calcium, carbonated drinks, etc. Avoid these foods 2 hrs. before bed and these will not contribute to your problem of acid reflux.
